The
Physiologus was originally a compiled work by an unknown Alexandrian author in the 2nd century AD. Its function, similar to that of medieval bestiaries, was a both literary and artistic exploration into the physiology of various forms of existing and fantastic fauna. You can read more about it here:
[link]Keeping in the spirit of the original, this physiologus is intended to house artistic works showcasing fantastic creatures, both original from the imagination of their creators alone and those inspired by myth, folklore and the works of others.
The
rules for contributions are fairly simple and straightforward:

Obviously, contributions should be submitted with the consent of the original creator or by the creator themself.
Any breed of creature is fine, from the elegant and beautiful, to grotesque and horrible and all shades in between. There's plenty of room here.

While creatures inspired by existing works are fine, it is preferred that we try not to include such things as Pokemon or common entities found in the likes of World of Warcraft or Final Fantasy. This is a flexible rule, so contact me directly if you'd like to negotiate.

Anthropomorphizing may have been prevalent in myth and folklore across the centuries, but this group is
not for
furry/anthro artwork. I'm sorry. However, there are several groups on DA for just that sort of theme, so there are other options.
As far as joining goes, this group is currently open to both
members and
contributors, although the latter is really more geared toward those who have an passionate interest in creatures and, ideally, have examples of their own creations on display in their galleries.
That said, if you're a contributor, get to adding some pictures!! If you're a member or a watcher, get to suggesting some faves!!
